#11: When You Write Like This You're Really Alone

A song about the balance that is needed between reading and writing, input and output, observing and creating. Also about the loneliness of writing. This song was written less with melody in mind and in fact started with the rhythm by looping a piano part and adding a marching beat. So this is a slightly different style of writing for me.

It's pretty lonely when you write, you're the only one in sight, people pass and there's no hope cause there's only room for one at the end of your rope. And every line takes your further down, every page hurts a little more, and you hope you can atone but you're writing for you and you alone. When you write like that you're really alone. It's pretty lonely when you sing, overwhelmed by everything, sing the lines of the lovers lost and you feel the pain of the lovers crossed. Every note is a thorn in your side and every rest leaves you short of breath and your song is a touching tone but you're singing for you and you alone. When you sing like that you're really alone.
