#45: Crosses in my Eyes

I'm not sure I can explain this song. I saw my reflection and imagined crosses on my eyes. The thought wouldn't go away and it felt like something sad and something from my past. I started writing the song about this imagery but in the middle of the process I had a conversation that put me in a more optimistic mood. That's why the two verses are completely different in melody and tone and style. The first verse is a bit negative, the second verse is believing in the future. I should note that I wrote the music in this song for Small Town Treason and I'm borrowing it back for this song since it seemed to fit.

Where were you the day I changed my mind about everything? Where were you the month when I decided I would sing? Each day, each day's underrated and time can't be it can't be debated. Where you the time I had to move out of my place? Where you were the day I saw the black lines on my face? Each day, each day's under rated and signs are showing in very strange places. Crosses in my eyes. You don't know this and you probably never will I started writing this song when we were still talking every night with 20 dollar phone plan, planning to meet up as soon as you came home again. It's takin' lots of time, it's takin' countless fuck ups, it's takin' lots of tears and it's takin' lots of break ups, it's takin' lots of medicine, it's takin' lots of growin' up. But each day, each day's under rated and time can't be, it can't be debated. Crosses in my eyes.
