#62: Glacier Hearts

To understand this song imagine you're watching a glacier. Imagine the ice breaking off and plunging into icy water as it grows. Then you suddenly see your body as the rocky ground and that glacier, over thousands of years, has crept up over your whole body and covered your heart with ice. And then, it starts receding, tearing and ripping up your body, and leaving your heart covered with rocky scratches and lines, suddenly exposed to the fresh air, bright and red and bleeding. That's what the song is about. There's a beautiful voice on this track that's way too pretty to be mine. That's Kristin Cleland, a new friend and a beautiful singer from right here in Paris.

Extinguished fire and souls entice the wind to tear and change the ice.
Inside the stress pulls, cracks and crumbles. Collapses, crashes, splashes, rumbles.
Always at a steady pace, the ice and rain and summer race.
In your frigid fingers your pulse can be felt and the frozen shapes in the water start to melt!
Not knowing all our warm-blooded troubles, the plunging ice and rising bubbles,
Scrape the fat and leave above the lines on our hearts that bleed with love.

  4. One last attempt.

Beautiful lyrics. This song triggers some very raw emotions. The imagery is powerful. To me, this represents a time when someone tears down their walls, either unwillingly or willingly.....it's when they shed their tough exterior, only to be left exposed. Kristen's voice adds a layer to it as it represents two people feeling the same way.....I could see this playing out in a love story. And this being that moment when you've just revea led your inner self and fears to each other.
