This song is Jon Dhama's creation; I just gave it some meaning that it was probably destined to have anyways. And if it wasn't destined to have this meaning it acquired a destiny the second Jon sang the first line at the kitchen table in Paris: 'one foot in this town...'. That line immediately created an image in my head as I started to imagine being stuck between a city life and a country life; stuck between two towns, two lives, two ways of existing; two passions. So we re-wrote the story together and this is what it became.
One foot in this town and one stuck in the clouds,
It's hard for me to find the middle ground.
This life's getting old, all this time on the road
I'm feeling broken down, only halfway home.
Halfway home I turn on the radio
The news, the same as it was a year ago.
But in our lives so much has changed, don't say it's over darling
This house ain't a home, if you pack clothes,
I know you just can't live on words alone,
My jobs where I go, and this town's what you know,
We can't keep hoping things will turn around.
Good song. Could be a tear jerker if one is in the same situation and can, therefore, relate to the circumstance. Likely happens quite often in ones life today, when jobs and partnership have to fight for that balance.
ReplyDeletenice. This song holds reality and dreams in a fine balance. Really connects with the struggle of a lot of people.
