#15: We're Not the Only Ones

I was trying to write a totally different song but I got stuck writing the poem and then this song just sort of fell out of the sky and landed on me so I recorded it. The lyrics are related to what I was already writing about but they are a much more pleasant and cute interpretation of the poem that I'm still working on.

I just assumed in time, that I could make you mine, but your friends reply, 'there's nothin' 'bout this guy', he's got passion and a dream but that love runs out of steam and he's not the only one, anyways he's not the only one. You make me feel like I'm green like I'm still 16, if there's flame there is a fire but if there's smoke there is a liar, you're not the only one. Do you think that this could fly and help the time pass by? We could head straight for the sun and cut our ties with everyone, and you could be the one.

Make Me Mine

I’ve been a fan of Rob’s music since I helped him record a love song for a girl on my 4- 

track when we were in high school.  This song is inspired by Bert’s Song #15, “We’re Not 

The Only Ones”.  Only the first melodic line bears similarity and the lyrics and intent have 

been turned around completely.  When you get to the point that you’re sick and tired of 

looking for love, you’ll be ready to look within and find it already fully complete inside 

you.  This is a love song to the kind of love that has no expectations.  It just is… and it’s 

more than enough.
