#25: Song #25
This song is a piano rant. I recorded the little guitar lick when I first woke up and wasn't sure what to do with it. Then on the way to the library I saw a sign for Fido or Telus phones that said 'made in part with recycled bottles'. My first reaction was 'you gotta be kidding me, people aren't retarded'. My second thought was 'but people LOVE this sort of silly stuff' and the more I thought about these phones the funnier the entire thing became and I ended in a bit of a laughing fit over it. I sat down at the library and started writing about the strange balance in life between playing (tricking people into buying 'recycled' phones and playing the amazingly entertaining money making game) and having intellectual and philosophical purpose (not buying those phones and understanding the social and cultural consequences of our daily behavior and contributing to a greater good). I couldn't get it into words so in the end I just went home and bashed as hard as I could on the piano for a few hours and recorded the last take even though it wasn't the best. I felt like kicking over my piano but I didn't.
