#58: Pop 1

Writing 'Winter' left me feeling drained. It was a great experience and I'm very happy that I have that song now but it was a tough one. So feeling a bit overwhelmed with the nature of my last song I figured a pure pop song was in order. I don't like following normal song structures and I've never liked bridges or choruses to keep the listener from 'getting bored'. I usually find following a structure only takes away from the art that I'm actually chasing. So I figured today I'd do the opposite of what I normally do. Standard structure, basic lyrics, reliable chord movement and I EVEN set up the chorus with a bit of a pre-chorus; I never do that. But I sat down this morning, pulled out the synth, cranked up the auto-tune and as it turned out, had an awesomely fun day; hence I named the song Pop 1. 


I'm just a geek, I'm a dirty little freak, you look funny by my side but you got me hanging on, I'll never say a word. I'm just a punk who never gave a fuck, you don't impress me much but you got me hanging on, I'll never ask if it's wrong. You've got a wife and perfect little life, you're a liar and a thief but you got me hanging on, If I blink you'll be gone. I'm just a girl living in a man's world and world is dark but you got me hanging on. Am I the only girl who's trapped in this song? Test after test I live up to your expectations. Time after time I'm told that I'm just your sensation. But lie after lie just makes me your accomplice. It's so easy to hang on even though I really hate this, I want you. I should be in class but I here came at last, it's funny how you've changed but you still got me hanging on; we've been apart so long. I should really go but if you talk to me you'll know that I can't get away cause you've got me hanging on. I think we can keep this going on.
