The idea of 'getting home' was the main theme of 'winter' (song 57). That song was about feeling 'away' and wondering where 'home' could actually be found. I wanted to approach the idea of 'home' from a different direction this time. This song is about the way men tend to project their ideal woman onto the woman in front of them (maybe what Jungians would call an anima projection). But at the same time I wanted to write about the need to be with that girl to feel 'at home'. So this song is about finding 'home' through a person and not (like in winter) through some sort of spiritual exploration. I'm going to South America for two months. I'm leaving in two days. So no new songs for a while unless I can post a video song while I'm on the road (which might happen)
I imagine you're the one, the holy girl to be undone by my muscles and my charm; my wicked tongue and working arms. You're perfect cause you're young, a flower to anyone's thorny stem or gnarled roots; Aphrodite daughter of Zeus. I wanna to take you home, I wanna take you home, wanna take you home. Sensitive and smooth you know just what to do, you're a cloud upon a cliff catching light diffused in mist. But nothing's as it seems, every girl's a hopeless dream, just a vision of my past, the reason why I'm going back. I wanna take you home so that I don't have to be alone, have to be alone. I wanna take you home, I wanna take you home, wanna take you home. Take you home Calypso, take you home Yoko Ono, take you home Aphrodite, take you home Marilyn Monroe, take you home Estella, take you home Clarissa, take you home Anna, Mary, Fermina, Clytemnestra, Helen, Cleopatra, Margaret...and the list goes on!
most interesting choice of women!
ReplyDeleteEstella, born to break hearts..
Calypso, mythology's stage five clinger and original creep...no?
