#73: Story Time 1

I've started hanging around with a writer friend of mine and we decided that we should do a writing project together. We started thinking we'd write a romance novel. So I read five romance novels. I hated them so that was the end of that project. The Time Traveller's Wife almost wrecked my brain. Then we got thinking about kids' books. Way more fun, way cooler. So with that thinking I wrote song #73. This song is a story for kids with some music. NOTE TO PARENTS: Not suitable for children under the age of 26.

There once was a little flower growing up in a crack in a side walk in Toronto. His name was Mel Gibson. He had a crush on a little boy that stepped over him every day on his way to school but he was too shy to say anything. When the boy stepped over him Mel Gibson would feel sad and sing to himself.

I'm way to shy too say something to you as you are walking by.
I'm way to shy too say hello to you as you are walking by.

He prayed every day for the little boy to stop and pick him up and take him home. But the boy never did, and Mel Gibson was too shy to say hi. He wanted  to be brave. he tried to find the courage every morning but at the last minute he'd just hang his head and sing to himself.

I'm way to shy too say something to you as you are walking by.
I'm way to shy too say hello to you as you are walking by.

Mel Gibson was feeling really sad so he came up with a plan. Maybe, if he knew what he wanted to say ahead of time he wouldn't be so shy!  So he came up with a really good line and then practiced it  over and over in front of a mirror. Hi, hi, hi.  And when the boy came the next morning Mel Gibson was ready to say hi but this time  the boy didn't walk over him. This time he bent down and picked him up! What happiness! What Joy! Love at last! But the boy turned to a little girl beside him and handed her Mel Gibson and sang to her:

I'm way too shy, I've been wanting to say something to you ever since I caught your eye.
I'm way too shy,  I hope you take this flower and hope that you'll be mine.

Well, Mel Gibson felt confused. And then he felt betrayed....

  2. The votes seem to be pretty polarized, as do the anonymous comments. I'm betting they divide along gender lines. Or maybe fan/nonfan of Mel. The song is the absolute definition of comedy, startling revelation of an offbeat perspective. Well done!
