#76: The Giving Tree 2

I'm not sure why I feel so connected to the Giving Tree but I started writing a third song this morning. Maybe I do know why.  I wrote this song to try to capture the devotion, sadness, beauty, strength and suffering of the tree.  So here's another song based on Shel Silverstein's 'The Giving Tree'.

We connected right away, we played for hours fell asleep, we dreamed, then we fell in love. We connected right away, we laughed and joked and played and slept, and jumped and danced and as you climbed I stole a hug. I can wait if you think you need more meaning in your life and my simple ways, just aren't enough to keep you satisfied, then go away, but promise you'll come home  some day.

No matter where you go,
No matter what you do,
I'll give you everything I got,
I'll give you anything you want,
'cause I won't stop loving you.

When you're feeling down, just come around and with my shade and spongy ground I'll comfort you, when you're feeling like the Emperor of Rome, then you can come on home, I'll build a thrown for you. I can wait if you got it in your head that two lovers in a bed must be birds of a feather, 'cause I find every day you spend away is another day that  our roots slowly grow together.
