#27: Old Tree and a Spider

I wrote two songs at the cottage (#26 and #27) without pen and paper. I normally start with an idea of what I want to write about, then write out some lines in poetic form and then I shape them into a lyrical form. This time I just looked around and sang. I recorded everything I sang and after a few minutes the lyrics were ready. So the lyrics of these two songs are very immediate and honest without any buried references (except of course from my own subconscious).  I was just trying to capture the moment.

We could be the best of lover-friends, but there's not much history for spiders and men, cause we're not the same. They say a tiger can't change his stripes and varnish can't change a wood's grain. I'm sorry that I cut you down; please forgive me. We'll share passion and philosophies, but there's not much history for men and trees, cause we're not the same. They say a scorpion will always sting, a lion needs to be the king who reins. I'm sorry that I cut you down; please forgive me.
