#51: Low Like a Flower

The idea for this song came from Dani Schuyler. She's a bit young to be writing songs but she heard a song I wrote and remembered the line 'I'm feeling so low'. She told me she wanted to write a song called 'I'm feeling so low....like a flower'. I thought that was pretty deep for a 4 year old. The first version of this song was a rock song and with Wesley on drums and Dani on guitar but our band at the cottage got so wild while we were playing that Wesley had to kick over the pot lids that made his drum kit and we all ended up on the floor rocking out way too hard for Lake Restoule (small town treason could learn a thing or two from the cottage band). This is a calmer version of that song.  

The life that you're trying to make might end up as one big mistake. Cause the lights that they shine in your eyes will blind you to the stars in the skies.Your things will fray and they'll rust, your life will become smoke and lust, but the patterns of stars don't change shape even though the gigillions of photons escape.The life that you live in your dreams is closer to you than it seems. When you're down and feeling this low you're in a place where flowers can grow. When your down with your back on the land, fate will lend you a hand, don't take too long to find your star because what you were will be part of who you are.
